Terme di Saturnia Natural Destination
Saturnia, Tuscany, Italy
Terme di Saturnia is set in 120 hectares of countryside in the Tuscan Maremma, below the medieval village of Saturnia. Open since 1919, it has a 124-room hotel, a large Thermal Spa, an 18-hole golf course and two restaurants, all built around a hot spring that has drawn bathers for more than 3,000 years.
The water is the reason to come. It rises at a constant 37.5°C and about 500 litres a second, after some 40 years underground beneath Mount Amiata, and it is sulphurous, carbonic and bicarbonate-alkaline. At the centre is the Spring, a natural thermal lake. Across the 20,000 sqm Spring Park the water also fills four outdoor thermal pools with whirlpools, hydromassage jets and a vascular path, plus two smaller pools for children. The Roman Bath has an infrared sauna and a redesigned Turkish bath, The Rituals Sauna holds Aufguss ceremonies and guided sauna sessions, and there is a Finnish sauna and relaxation rooms in Il Casale, a former Tuscan farmhouse. On Friday evenings the Notturno Club opens the water for bathing after dark. Four Thermal Pool Junior Suites each have a private thermal-water pool in the garden.
Spa treatments draw on the spring, including therapies with its thermal plankton, alongside massages, wellbeing rituals, cryotherapy and Ayurvedic treatments.
Saturnia Healthy Longevity, introduced in 2026, combines medical assessments, personalised nutrition, movement and thermal bathing. There are four programmes: Healthspan Nutrition, Cellular Energy and Skin Longevity over seven nights each, and a four-night Detox. Preparation starts two to three weeks before arrival with a Healthspan kit containing a health questionnaire, a sample kit for a genetic response profile and a continuous glucose monitor. On site, an initial consultation with diagnostics and functional measurements shapes the programme, followed by medical appointments, treatments, movement sessions, tailored nutrition and thermal bathing, and a final consultation. A dedicated Care Manager follows up at 30, 60 and 90 days.
This suits guests who want to soak in thermal water, with the option of a medical and nutritional programme, in open Tuscan countryside. Families are welcome, and day visitors can book Day Spa access to the pools.
