SHA Wellness Clinic

SHA opened on a hillside above the Costa Blanca in 2008 and effectively created the template that a generation of medical wellness properties has since followed: integrative medicine and macrobiotic nutrition delivered inside a genuinely luxurious residential hotel rather than a hospital.

The founding premise came from its founder's own recovery through macrobiotic eating, and nutrition remains the organising principle. Programmes combine that dietary foundation with diagnostics, genetic testing, preventive and regenerative medicine, traditional Chinese medicine, and a substantial physical therapy and movement offer. Stays are structured around a defined programme — detox, healthy ageing, weight management, executive health — with a medical consultation setting the terms on arrival.

The setting works in its favour: white terraced architecture stepped into the hillside, Mediterranean light, and views across the Sierra Helada to the sea.

SHA is a residential hotel first and a clinic second, and the register is correspondingly less austere than the Austrian and German houses. Guests who want the medicine without surrendering pleasure entirely will find the balance well judged; those seeking a stripped-back cure should know the proposition here is a different one.
