SEELEITEN Lake Spa Hotel

Kaltern, South Tyrol, Italy

Overnight stay

SEELEITEN is a family-run hotel on the South Tyrolean Wine Road, about 400 metres from Lake Kaltern, with two private lake accesses. The lake is the point: the hotel describes it as the warmest bathing lake in the Alps, and pairs it with a chlorine-free natural pool, 27 metres long and heated from March to October, with a brine grotto beside it.

The spa is split in two. Sensea Spa, adults only and 3,600 square metres in size, includes a 15 by 6 metre indoor-outdoor infinity pool at 34°C, a cold plunge pool, three textile-free saunas and three themed relaxation rooms, one oriental and one with a view of the lake. A separate family spa has an indoor pool at 32°C, two saunas where swimwear is worn, a Kneipp area and a children's pool. Massages and treatments are offered at Spa Ninfea.

Stays include breakfast, a lunch buffet and dinner, and the Moser family's own winery runs weekly tastings and cellar tours for guests. Beyond the spa there is a gym, tennis, and cycling and hiking from the door.

This suits couples and adults who want warm water, saunas and wine country in one place. It is not a quiet adults-only retreat throughout: the hotel runs a kids club and welcomes families, so the calm sits mostly inside the Sensea Spa. Anyone uneasy about nudity in saunas should use the family spa's textile saunas.
