Alsik Hotel & Spa

A 190-room hotel on the Sønderborg waterfront, opened in 2019 as part of Frank Gehry's masterplan for the old industrial harbour and executed by Henning Larsen. Alsik Nordic Spa & Wellness runs to more than 4,500 square metres across four floors, built around Nordic bathing rituals alternating heat, water and cold. The upper Nordic section holds a herbal sauna, two steam baths, an infrared lounge and a panorama sauna over the Alssund, with a guided two-and-a-half-hour Nordic Five ritual; the floor below is the Alsik Spa Pool. There is a Technogym-equipped fitness and yoga studio with memberships, treatment suites with private sauna and steam, and the restaurant Syttende. Day entry is sold to non-residents; the Nordic section is 16+.
